So we finally made the big move.
The place is great - apart from the fact that the former tenants left it in a bit of a sorry state - but me and Russ are so pov that we don't really have the proper furnishings to keep up with the standard of the building. *hehe* Most of our stuff is either charity, scavengings or second-hand bought. Pretty much the only newly bought things we have are the baths mats and our wonderfully oh-ho-shiny lipstick-red toaster and kettle set.
In addition, the landlords from whom we are directly tenanting (cf. through a real estate agent) have done a brilliant job of scaring us silly, making the maintenance and cleaning of the apartment seem like housekeeping for a hotel suite and threatening us with the dire consequences of leaving our unmentionables to dry out on our balcony.
Nonetheless, we are here. This is our new home.
Pros: - MASSIVE living area - floor-to-almost-ceiling windows - balcony - air-con and heating - in-sink-erator (SCARY SHIT, I tells ya O_O) - dryer - dishwasher - gas cooking - two bathrooms - study/third bedroom - large built-in wardrobes - intercom and security features including restricted lifts - common areas including heated swimming pool plus jacuzzi, gym, bbq and outer lounge area - secure, underground car-parking (two private spaces)
Cons: - 98% of the building are owner occupiers - my neighbour is the treasurer of the body corporate...x_x - 90% of fellow residents are 60+ years old - traffic sounds from the constantly busy Queens Rd - frightening, anal-retentive landlords (at least one of them) - no utilities are included in rent - rent is pricey - no third tenant - no internet yet - no washing machine - no drawers/shelves; I'm still living out of suitcases until I can find something from IKEA
On the up and up, though, I have rekindled my former fiery love affair with cooking. I used to love it when I was at my parents' place, but when I moved out to UniLodge and was lumped with a communal kitchen from which I was required to cart my ingredients/cutlery/dishes back and forth from my bedroom, it kinda got killed dead dead. I cannot describe to you how satisfying it is to be able to leave dishes in the sink to wash later.
So after two years of wasting money on take out/not eating at all, I have started to properly cook my own food and bring little sandwiches 'n' lame crap like that to work. =D It's da BOMB.
I need to settle down a bit, though.
Things to do: - WRITE - DRAW - work out wtf to do about uni cos so far the situation is super-farked - learn to budget - call up The Singing Teacher - get back to martial arts (NEED) - use up the dance class credits - reconnect with self - after reconnection, try harder not to neglect friends and reverse the hermitism which you have become so used to
Oh yeah. I suppose learning to live by a regular sleep cycle wouldn't go astray either.
